About Effingham

Effingham is a city and the county seat of Effingham County, Illinois, situated in the south-central portion of the state. Known as the Crossroads of Opportunity due to its position at the intersection of Interstates 57 and 70, the community of approximately 12,342 was first settled in 1814 as Broughton. The city features several religious schools including Saint Anthony and Sacred Heart, and public education is served by Effingham Community Unit School District 40.
