El Cenizo, TX (CDP)

El Cenizo is a small, quiet community sitting along the Rio Grande, about 20 miles south of Laredo. The town got its official start in the late 1980s when local families came together to incorporate and build out their own municipal services. Today, it offers an affordable place to settle down, defined by deep roots, open South Texas skies, and a close-knit neighborhood feel.

The local community center serves as a steady hub for family activities and neighborhood programs, and children attend schools in the United Independent School District, including Kennedy-Zapata Elementary right in the area. For work, major shopping trips, and classes at Laredo College, residents take an easy drive north along Highway 83. It serves as a calm home base that keeps everyday city amenities well within reach.
