El Cenizo, TX (City)

El Cenizo is a small border city sitting right along the Rio Grande, about sixteen miles south of Laredo. It originally started as a rural subdivision without paved roads or basic utilities, until residents banded together in 1989 to incorporate and build their own local services. Today, it is a quiet, close-knit residential community with a strong sense of pride and a peaceful pace of life along the river.

Much of the local activity revolves around the community center and fitness center on Cecilia Lane, which offer family programs, neighborhood events, and popular weekday Zumba classes. Because El Cenizo is purely residential, residents make the quick drive up Highway 83 into Laredo for major grocery runs, healthcare, jobs, and entertainment. It provides a simple, welcoming small-town atmosphere with convenient access to the larger amenities of the Laredo area.
