About El Reno

El Reno is a city and the county seat of Canadian County, Oklahoma, located twenty-five miles west of Oklahoma City. Established shortly after the 1889 land rush, the community was named after nearby Fort Reno, with the prefix added to distinguish it from the former town of Reno City. The city is famous for its culinary history, celebrating the invention of the fried onion burger with the annual Fried Onion Burger Day Festival held every May in the downtown district.
