Eldersburg, MD

Eldersburg takes its name from John Elder, who received a land grant from the English king. The unincorporated Carroll County community and census-designated place had 30,531 residents in 2010. Its post office moved into Carroll County in 1871 under the spelling Eldersburgh; the name was shortened in 1894. Wesley Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church is among the country’s earliest Methodist congregations, and the Moses Brown House entered the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The community centers on the intersection of Maryland routes 26 and 32: Route 26 leads toward Baltimore and Frederick, while Route 32 connects toward Westminster and Columbia.
