Eldorado, PA

Eldorado is a census-designated place in western Blair County, along the southern edge of Logan Township and the south side of the Burgoon Run valley. The Allegheny Front rises west of the community, while Altoona’s Eldorado neighborhood begins to the east inside the city. Horseshoe Curve lies about two and a half miles up the valley, linking Eldorado’s immediate landscape to the railroad corridor that climbs toward the mountain. The geography is compact: stream, steep slopes, city edge, and rail line all sit close together.

Water is part of the everyday map. The City of Altoona identifies Burgoon Run as a floodplain stream through the Eldorado area, so the valley matters for roads, homes, and land-use decisions. Students attend Altoona Area School District, with Altoona Area High School as the comprehensive high school. Nearby Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site and Horseshoe Curve keep the region’s railroad history visible, while Eldorado itself remains a community of homes organized around the run, the mountain base, and access to Altoona.
