About Eldorado Springs

Eldorado Springs is a Boulder County CDP at the mouth of the road into Eldorado Canyon State Park. The town's resort story began on July 4, 1905, when Moffat Lakes Resort opened; the Eldorado Springs name took hold after the Eldorado Hotel opened in 1908. Colorado bought over 400 acres from the resort in 1978, creating the state park that now sits upstream along South Boulder Creek. The canyon also carries Ute history, homesteads, a failed narrow-gauge railroad grade, and climbing routes. The local shorthand is springs, resort, canyon road, and a state park at the town's western end.
