Electra, TX

Named after cattle heiress Electra Waggoner, this North Texas community grew out of the legendary Waggoner Ranch before striking oil in the early 1900s. The resulting boom transformed a quiet railroad stop into a thriving hub for drillers, ranchers, and local businesses. That history remains a big part of the town's identity, earning Electra its official title as the Pump Jack Capital of Texas.

Living here offers a classic small-town Texas rhythm, where Friday night football, neighborhood gatherings, and Main Street shops set the pace. Residents celebrate their roots every year at the lively Pump Jack Festival, and the restored Grand Theatre still hosts movies, concerts, and local events. Since Wichita Falls is only about half an hour down Highway 287, you get peaceful, affordable living with easy access to regional jobs, hospitals, and shopping.
