Elizabeth City, NC

Elizabeth City is a Pasquotank River city in northeastern North Carolina, long used as a trading site at the narrows of the river. It is part of the broader Virginia Beach regional orbit, but it has its own Albemarle Sound identity, with waterfront, Coast Guard presence, historic districts, and a small downtown. The Museum of the Albemarle gives the city a strong regional-history role. Elizabeth City feels maritime, historic, and slightly tucked away, a gateway to northeastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks.
