Elizabeth is a statutory town and the most populous municipality in Elbert County, Colorado, operating within the Denver-Aurora-Centennial metropolitan area. Growing from a nineteenth-century sawmill camp and named for a family member of Governor John Evans, the community of approximately 2,244 is served by the Elizabeth School District for public education.
