About Elkton
Elkton is a Cecil County town at the head of navigation on the Elk River, which is why it was once called Head of Elk. Swedish mariners and fishermen from Fort Casimir settled the area in 1694, giving the town deep colonial roots near the top of the Chesapeake Bay. Students are served by Cecil County Public Schools. Elkton feels like a crossroads town between Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, with river history, courthouse functions, and I-95 corridor traffic all nearby.
