Elmira, CA

Elmira is a tiny, quiet rural community tucked into the farmland of Solano County, just a few minutes east of Vacaville and south of Dixon. It started out in the late 1860s as a railroad stop called Vaca Station before being renamed after a local settler's hometown in New York. Around the turn of the twentieth century, it was a busy little junction with its own schools, hotels, and a train roundhouse that helped ship the region's fruit and grain.

As regional travel shifted over to Interstate 80, Elmira settled into the peaceful agricultural enclave it is today. Life here is quiet and low-key, surrounded by open fields and orchards, with trains still rumbling past the old depot site. It gives residents a genuine slice of country living, while nearby Vacaville provides easy access to everyday shopping, dining, and schools in the Vacaville Unified School District.
