Ely is the only city and the county seat of White Pine County, Nevada, founded as a historic stagecoach station along the Pony Express route. Boasting a rich copper mining heritage and home to the Nevada Northern Railway's historic Ghost Train of Old Ely, the mountain community of approximately 3,929 is served by the White Pine County School District.
