About Emmett
Emmett is a city and the county seat of Gem County, Idaho, situated along the southern bank of the Payette River within the Boise metropolitan area. Established in the late nineteenth century around a river ferry crossing, the community of approximately 8,300 is home to the Black Canyon diversion dam. The city's local economy includes timber manufacturing at Boise Cascade facilities, and public education is provided by the Emmett School District.
