About Enterprise

Enterprise is a southeastern Alabama city in Coffee and Dale counties, and the main city of its micropolitan area. It was first settled by John Henry Carmichael in 1881 and later became famous for the Boll Weevil Monument, a strange but memorable tribute to the pest that pushed local agriculture away from cotton and toward diversification. Enterprise is also home to Enterprise State Community College and sits near Fort Novosel, giving the city a strong military-adjacent economy. It feels like a practical Wiregrass regional center.
