About Epes

Epes is a town in Sumter County, Alabama, situated on the high bluffs of the Tombigbee River near Jones Bluff. The community traces its historical origins to the early eighteenth century, when the French constructed Fort de Tombecbé under Louis XIV. Originally called Epes Station, the town was officially incorporated in 1899 and today has a population of nearly three hundred residents.
