About Ephraim

Ephraim is a Door County village founded in 1853 by the Reverend Andreas Iverson as a Moravian community on Eagle Harbor. The waterfront view still gives away the place: the steeples of the Ephraim Moravian Church and Bethania Lutheran Church rise over the harbor, with Peninsula State Park across the water. Many of the village’s old buildings remain in use, including the 1858 church, the Pioneer Schoolhouse, and the Anderson Store. Each June, Fyr Bal turns the shoreline into a Scandinavian midsummer story, complete with a ceremonial Chieftain chasing away the winter witch. Ephraim is Door County with church steeples, old buildings, and a harbor that does a lot of the introducing.
