About Epping

Epping is a city in Williams County, North Dakota, United States. The 2020 census counted 84 residents. Epping was founded in 1905 along the transcontinental rail line of the Great Northern Railway. The name comes from Epping in England. In 1977, the Epping High School boys' basketball team earned its first-ever trip to the Class B State Tournament, by defeating Watford City in the Region 7 championship game. That mix gives Epping a clear local shape within North Dakota, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present.
