Ester is a census-designated place in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska, forming part of the Fairbanks metropolitan area. Originally established as a gold mining camp in 1903 along Ester Creek, the community preserves its heritage in the Ester Camp Historic District. Today the town features a unique community character centered around the historic Golden Eagle Saloon and the Ester Community Park, maintained entirely by local volunteers.
