Ethete, WY

Ethete is a small community located in central Wyoming on the Wind River Reservation, shared by the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone tribes. Home to around 1,500 residents, it serves as an important cultural and civic hub for the Northern Arapaho. Life here is quiet and close-knit, defined by strong tribal traditions, local community events, and scenic views of the nearby Wind River Mountains.

At the center of town is the historic St. Michael's Mission, established in the late 1800s and recognized for its circular campus and rustic log church, Our Father's House. Families in the area are served by Fremont County School District 14, which includes Wyoming Indian Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. With the schools as a natural gathering point and towns like Lander and Riverton just a short drive away, Ethete combines rural reservation life with easy access to regional amenities.
