Eva, AL

Eva is a Morgan County town that started life as Cowhead after settlement began in 1820, just a year after Alabama became a state. Local lore says the name changed to Eva in 1883 after a physician delivered a baby with that name; the official change followed in 1887. The town sits on the southern edge of Morgan County, where drainage runs toward Flint and Cotaco Creeks and, farther south, the Broglen River. September’s Frontier Days brings a parade, antique cars and tractors, horses, food, and crafts. Eva is north-central Alabama with an old nickname, a river-shaped map, and a festival that makes a whole day of it.
