About Evans

Evans is a Weld County home rule city in the Greeley metro area and Colorado's Front Range Urban Corridor. It was settled in 1867, named for territorial governor John Evans, and briefly served as the Weld County seat before Greeley won that role. The city sits along the South Platte River, with commercial activity around US 85, US 34, 23rd Avenue, and 37th Street. Evans also has a growing Hispanic population and is served by Weld County School District Six.
