Tucked along the Koyukuk River in northern Alaska, Evansville is a tiny, remote village that shares an airfield with neighboring Bettles. Life out here revolves around the wilderness, rooted in Koyukon Athabascan and Iñupiat traditions alongside jobs in aviation, local government, and wilderness tourism. Since there are no year-round roads, small planes bring in everyday essentials, though a frozen winter trail occasionally opens a driveable route to the Dalton Highway.
