Everett, WA

Everett is Snohomish County's largest city, sitting about 30 miles north of Seattle between Port Gardner Bay and the Snohomish River. It has strong working roots grounded in aerospace, maritime trade, and naval operations. Boeing's massive assembly facility anchors the southwest side by Paine Field, which also offers convenient commercial flights that save locals a long drive to Sea-Tac. Beyond aviation and Naval Station Everett, major employers like Providence Regional Medical Center, county government offices, and local college campuses provide a solid job base.

The city is roughly divided between north and south. Up on the northern peninsula, you will find the historic downtown, walkable streets with charming older craftsman homes, and scenic views of the bay. Heading south, the layout shifts to larger suburban neighborhoods, apartment communities, and convenient retail corridors along Evergreen Way and around the Everett Mall. It offers a practical mix of Puget Sound scenery and everyday convenience at a much lower cost of living than Seattle.

There is plenty to do on weekends, especially if you enjoy sports, local arts, and getting outdoors. Downtown draws big crowds on game nights when fans head into Angel of the Winds Arena for Silvertips hockey. In the summer, you can catch an AquaSox minor league baseball game at Funko Field, take kids to the popular Imagine Children's Museum, or check out local glassblowers and gallery exhibits at the Schack Art Center. Downtown also features a growing mix of independent coffee shops, neighborhood breweries, and seasonal street festivals.

Commuting is straightforward thanks to Everett Station, which connects riders to Seattle and Bellevue through Sounder commuter trains and regional express buses. At the same time, the waterfront is seeing major investment. The Port of Everett runs the largest public marina on the West Coast, surrounded by new dining spots, boutique hotels, and apartments at Waterfront Place. Along the eastern edge, the Riverfront project continues to turn former industrial land into master-planned neighborhoods complete with new townhomes, parks, and paved riverside trails.
