About Evergreen

Evergreen is a small, quiet town in Avoyelles Parish, located just east of Bunkie. Originally called Bayou Ridge, it took its name from the lush magnolia trees that shade the countryside. The settlement grew during the nineteenth century as a gathering place and trading post for local farmers, surrounded by the rich farmland and winding bayous of central Louisiana.

With around two hundred residents, life in Evergreen moves at an easy, relaxed pace. The town has a proud educational heritage dating back to the mid-1800s, when it was home to local academies and a small college.
