Excursion Inlet, AK

Excursion Inlet is a census-designated place in Haines Borough, Alaska, situated on the east side of Excursion Inlet, an arm of Icy Strait. Originally an Alaska Native settlement of the Huna Tlingit, the site was used by the U.S. Army as a major barge terminal during the early stages of World War II. The CDP extends north to the boundary of Glacier Bay National Park at the head of the inlet. With a population of 40 at the 2020 census, it is one of the most remote communities in the borough.
