Fair Lakes, VA

Fair Lakes is a census-designated place and business park west of Fairfax in Fairfax County. It was farmland until planned development of office parks, commercial buildings, and upscale residential apartments began in the 1980s and 1990s under the Peterson Companies. Fair Lakes is less a traditional town than a designed suburban district: shopping centers, office campuses, apartments, lakes, and commuter roads. Its appeal is access, especially for people working along the Fairfax and Dulles-area job corridors.
