Fairacres, NM

Fairacres is an unincorporated Doña Ana County community west of Las Cruces, with U.S. 70 passing through and a post office that opened in 1926. Older county planning material describes it as a farming community, and that still gives the place its shape: roads, irrigated fields, school grounds, and the Las Cruces service area overlap here. Fairacres has a named Census boundary, but no separate municipal government.

Fairacres Elementary, at the west Picacho Avenue address, is part of Las Cruces Public Schools and has served as a local school point since the 1970s. A recent campus expansion added classrooms, a multipurpose room, kitchen, art and music rooms, and outdoor learning space; those are practical signs of how the community connects to the larger district. The post office, Highway 70 corridor, and school are the useful local landmarks, while Las Cruces supplies city-scale services nearby. Fairacres is a small named place in the agricultural edge of the Mesilla Valley, organized around county roads and a school rather than a town hall.
