Village Green Park and the Fairfield Community Arts Center place much of the city's public calendar in one central setting. The arts center contains a 237-seat theater, gallery, pottery studio, dance and fitness studio, and children's area; Fairfield Footlighters stages community theater there, and the gallery presents local and regional exhibitions with free admission. In 2026, the adjoining park hosted a Wednesday farmers market as well as Groovin' on the Green concerts, public yoga, and dance programs. Fairfield incorporated in 1955 from a cluster of earlier settlements in southern Butler County. The city sits on the east bank of the Great Miami River about 25 miles north of Cincinnati, and its 2020 population was 44,907. A broad municipal recreation system spreads activity well beyond Village Green. In June 2026, Fairfield reported 41 park and recreation facilities totaling 845 acres, including two golf courses, an aquatic center, a 60-acre lake, 75 acres of nature preserve, and 14 miles of bicycle and hiking paths.

William Harbin Park accounts for 176 acres and connects directly to the 41-acre Muskopf Preserve. Its network combines a 1.5-mile paved loop with about seven miles of unpaved hiking and mountain-bike trails, plus eight pickleball courts, an 18-hole disc-golf course, sports fields, playgrounds, and a splash pad. A multiyear redevelopment completed the loop in 2021, added courts and an overlook pavilion in 2022–23, opened a new playground in 2024, and brought the splash pad and disc-golf improvements online in 2025. Fairfield's 2026 calendar used the park for guided nature programs, Harbin Trail Days, and the annual Red, White & Kaboom gathering, making the upgraded grounds both a neighborhood recreation site and an event venue.
