Fairmount, NY

Fairmount is a relaxed suburban community located just west of Syracuse in the town of Camillus. With around 10,000 residents, it offers quiet residential neighborhoods alongside a quick commute to downtown Syracuse and nearby Onondaga Lake. Strong schools are a major draw for relocating families, with most homes falling within the West Genesee Central School District and others zoned for neighboring Westhill.

The area takes its name from "Fair Mount," an estate established in the late 1790s by local surveyor and engineer James Geddes. Over the decades, those early farm tracts developed into an established residential neighborhood. Today, Fairmount gives newcomers a welcoming mix of comfortable housing, quiet side streets, and plenty of everyday shopping and dining along West Genesee Street.
