Fairview, AL

Fairview began as Lawrence Chapel in the 1840s, then took the name of another Methodist church in the late 1890s. By the early 1900s, mills, a general store, a cotton gin, and a summer resort hotel had given the Cullman County crossroads mills, a summer hotel, and a reason to stop. Today State Route 69 runs east-west through town between Cullman and Arab, and the Bluegrass Festival fills Fairview Park each July. Fairview is a small north Alabama town with an old church-name origin and a layered working history: sawmills, cotton, school, highway, and music all fit inside the same few miles.
