Fairview Park, IN

Fairview Park is a small town in southeastern Vermillion County, platted in 1902 and now pressed against the north end of Clinton. That adjacency matters: the town has its own name and history, but daily bearings often run through the larger Wabash River community next door. Clinton grew along the river and around coal-era immigration, and the two places share the same broad western Indiana landscape of farm roads, low wooded stretches, and quick trips into town. Fairview Park also sits within South Vermillion Community School Corporation, tying local families to South Vermillion High School and the district’s wider school network.

On a local day out, the Wabash is the natural reference point. Clinton’s parks, plazas, sports fields, golf course, and river-facing spaces give Fairview Park residents nearby places to gather, play, and watch the seasons change. The town itself carries the feel of a residential edge community: close enough to use Clinton’s services, distinct enough to keep its own place name on the map. Its story is less about a single landmark than about a 1902 town that grew into the orbit of an older river city while staying rooted in the Vermillion County countryside.
