Bowie Nature Park is the crown jewel of Fairview and a favorite backyard escape for locals. Back in the 1950s, Dr. Evangeline Bowie bought up worn-out farmland and spent decades bringing it back to life, hand-planting hundreds of thousands of loblolly pines and creating peaceful fishing lakes. She eventually donated the entire property to the city, giving residents more than 700 acres of lush pine forest to enjoy. Today, you can spend a Saturday exploring over 14 miles of shaded trails on foot, by bike, or on horseback, or drop by the nature center to check out local wildlife exhibits.
