Falcon Lake Estates, TX

Falcon Lake Estates is a small lakeside community in Zapata County, set along the Texas side of Falcon International Reservoir south of Zapata. The reservoir is the reason the name matters: the neighborhood's roads and homes face a broad Rio Grande water landscape shaped by Falcon Dam and the international boundary. There is no old courthouse square here. The local map is a mix of residential lanes, brush country, boat routes, and the long drive along U.S. 83 toward Zapata and Falcon Heights.

Falcon State Park sits downlake near the dam and gives the area its easiest gathering point for camping, fishing, swimming, birding, hiking, and launching a boat. Largemouth bass and channel catfish keep anglers coming, while lakeshore brush brings South Texas birds and wildlife. Zapata County ISD handles the school connection, and Zapata supplies groceries, services, and the everyday errands that a lake community cannot keep on its own.
