Falcon, NC

Falcon is a tiny, quiet rural town sitting right along the South River, straddling the line between Cumberland and Sampson counties. It got its start in the late 1800s around a local general store and post office, earning its unique name when the shopkeeper’s son pulled the word "Falcon" off a box of stationery pens. Over the following decades, the community developed into a close-knit retreat known throughout the region for its church camp meetings, Christian academies, and a historic children's home that still serves the area today.

The town's centerpiece is the Falcon Tabernacle, an unusual eight-sided wooden hall built in 1898 to mimic the open-air revival tents of the era. Today, Falcon is home to just over 300 residents who appreciate a slow, peaceful pace of life within easy driving distance of Fayetteville and Dunn. With its deep spiritual roots, leafy backroads, and easy access to the river, it offers a distinct charm for folks looking for a genuine small-town setting.
