About Falkville
Falkville is a Morgan County town named for Louis Falk, a Prussian merchant who opened a general store there in 1859 and became the first postmaster. The Louisville & Nashville Railroad reached town in the early 1870s, and the station helped turn the crossroads into a place with stores, mills, cotton gins, and blacksmith shops. U.S. 31 and I-65 now frame the town's location south of Hartselle. Falkville is north-central Alabama in a store-and-railroad shape, with an old name still doing the introductions.
