Falls City, OR

Set in the Coast Range foothills along the Little Luckiamute River, Falls City is a quiet community of about a thousand residents. The town gets its name from the waterfall flowing right through the center of town, which gives the place an immediate, scenic charm. It grew around the timber boom in the late 1800s, and today it holds onto that relaxed, rural pace. Sitting roughly halfway between Salem and the coast, the surrounding woods and winding river valley give the whole area a peaceful, out-of-the-way feel.

Everyday life here centers on the outdoors and a tight-knit neighborhood vibe. On warm days, the falls and riverbanks are favorite spots to cool off, and just west of town, the Black Rock Mountain Bike Area draws trail riders from all over western Oregon. Locals take pride in the town's roots, with community efforts dedicated to preserving historic buildings and memories from the old logging days.
