Falmouth, PA

Falmouth occupies the northwestern corner of Lancaster County, where Conewago Creek meets the Susquehanna River. It is part of Conoy Township, with Londonderry Township in Dauphin County just across Conewago Creek. That border gives the community a two-county outlook: roads and services run through Lancaster County, while the river and creek open the view toward the opposite bank. The landscape is less about a dense center than about the meeting point of water, township roads, and the broad river corridor. Much of Falmouth's character comes from this edge-of-water geography.

At low water, Conewago Falls and a field of large potholes in the Susquehanna's diabase bedrock appear beside Falmouth, turning an ordinary-looking river edge into a piece of Pennsylvania geology. The township's older stories also point to the Falmouth-Elizabethtown Pike and a boulder formation called Governors Stables along Stony Creek. Today Falmouth remains a small named place within Conoy Township, reached by Falmouth Road and tied to the river towns, farms, and utility network around Bainbridge and Elizabethtown.
