Fannett, TX

Fannett is a Jefferson County census-designated place about 15 miles southwest of Beaumont, where State Highway 124 and Farm Road 365 meet the flat roads of the coastal plain. The 2020 census counted 2,363 residents. The community took its name from B. Fannett, a local landowner who opened a general store here in the 1890s. The map is mostly road, drainage, pasture, and wide-open southeast Texas country. On weekdays, the highway carries most of the local movement. The Clifton Steamboat Museum gives Fannett its most distinctive local stop, with military, maritime, and family-history displays at the Fannett Road site.

Fannett schools joined Hamshire's in 1961 to form Hamshire-Fannett ISD, tying the community to the neighboring school map and Beaumont-area trips. The coastal plain, drainage ditches, and highway junction keep Fannett connected to the larger Golden Triangle while the place itself stays small and spread out. Fannett's local scoop is a rural crossroads with a steamboat museum at its heart and Beaumont just up the road.
