Fertile, MN

Tucked away in northwestern Minnesota, Fertile is a quiet community of around 800 people with a surprisingly unique landscape. While classic farmland stretches out in every direction, the town is best known for the Fertile Sand Hills, a scenic pocket of ancient dunes, prairie trails, and oak savanna right along the Sand Hill River. It is the kind of place where you can step out your door and easily spend an afternoon hiking, cross-country skiing, or simply enjoying the wide-open skies.

Daily life centers around the local K-12 school and a compact downtown where neighbors run into each other at the library and local shops. Community pride really shines during the summer, especially when the historic Polk County Fair comes to town with carnival rides, 4-H exhibits, and crowds from all across the county. Between the easy access to nature and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere, Fertile has a comfortable charm that makes newcomers feel right at home.
