Finley, TN

Finley is an unincorporated Dyer County community about five miles west of downtown Dyersburg along Tennessee Route 104. The place was first known as Pleasant Hill and was settled on higher ground north of the modern village around 1840. Tennessee Route 182 also passes through, connecting Finley with Interstate 155 and Lenox. The roads make the community feel like a small crossroads, but the local story runs through the people who use it.

Three churches—Finley Baptist, Finley United Pentecostal, and Finley Methodist, with Junction Church of God joining the effort—help put on the annual Finley Freedom Fest. The day brings a parade, music, food, children's activities, and fireworks, all organized as a shared community event. Dyer County High School is in Newbern, so school life reaches beyond town too. Finley's older name, its two routes, and its July festival give the place a clear shape in western Dyer County. The festival gives the crossroads a date on the calendar every year.
