About Fish Hawk

Fish Hawk takes its name from Little Fishhawk Creek, a tributary that joins the Alafia River west of Lithia Springs. The Hillsborough County census-designated place is a Tampa suburb 20 miles southeast of downtown and had 24,625 residents in 2020. The Alafia forms its northern boundary, separating Fish Hawk from Valrico and Bloomingdale, while the older community of Lithia lies within the CDP’s eastern section. FishHawk Trails and FishHawk Ranch were built as separate subdivisions during the 1990s on former ranch land. Before that development, a CSX rail line crossed the wooded FishHawk Trails site; the tracks were removed in the late 1980s, and an earlier station had handled supplies, mail, and food for Lithia.
