Fisher, MN

Located along the Red Lake River in northwestern Minnesota, Fisher is a quiet community of around 400 residents. It sits right off U.S. Highway 2, giving locals an easy 15-minute drive west into East Grand Forks and Grand Forks or 10 minutes east to Crookston. The town was founded in the 1870s as a steamboat landing, originally dubbed Shirt-Tail Bend after a shirt tied to a stick that warned boat captains of a sharp curve in the water.

Today, Fisher appeals to people who want a tight-knit, rural setting with quick access to regional job centers and healthcare. Local children attend Fisher Public School, which serves students from preschool through twelfth grade in a single district building. It is a straightforward, peaceful place to put down roots, offering low-traffic streets, a friendly neighborhood feel, and an easy daily commute across the Red River Valley.
