Fort Deposit, AL

As the largest town in Lowndes County, Fort Deposit sits just two miles west of Interstate 65, roughly halfway between Montgomery and Mobile. The town got its name back in 1813 when General Ferdinand Claiborne built a military supply depot here during the Creek War. Today, it offers a peaceful, rural setting where you can enjoy wide open spaces and a relaxed pace of life, while still having an easy commute up the interstate to Montgomery.
