Fort Klamath, OR

Tucked into the green meadows of the Wood River Valley, Fort Klamath is a tiny, peaceful community sitting right on the doorstep of Crater Lake National Park. Home to just a few dozen residents, it offers expansive skies, views of the Cascade Mountains, and quiet country roads. Living here feels worlds away from city hustle, surrounded by cattle pastures, tall pines, and the clear waters flowing toward Upper Klamath Lake.

The town originally formed around an 1860s military post, and you can still visit the preserved guardhouse and grounds at the local museum. While you will need to head south to Klamath Falls for big grocery runs and medical care, Fort Klamath offers immediate access to outdoor recreation, including world-class fly fishing on the Wood River and miles of mountain trails.
