About Fort Loudon

Fort Loudon is a Franklin County census-designated place in the West Branch Conococheague Creek valley, with Cove Mountain, Blue Mountain, and Parnell Knob around it. The community takes its name from the colonial Fort Loudoun, built in 1756 during the French and Indian War; a replica now stands near U.S. 30 and Brooklyn Road. The Lincoln Highway runs through the place between McConnellsburg and Chambersburg. Fort Loudon is a Pennsylvania crossroads where a frontier fort, a recreated stockade, and a mountain valley share the same name.
