About Fort Recovery
Fort Recovery is a Mercer County village near the headwaters of the Wabash, built around the site of a frontier fort ordered by General Anthony Wayne in 1793. Two major battles of the Northwest Indian War were fought here; the later American victory helped lead to the Treaty of Greenville, whose boundary line meets the village’s history. State Routes 119 and 49, along with several local roads, now converge near the old fort site. Fort Recovery is an Ohio village where Wabash headwaters, treaty lines, and battlefield history meet.
