Sitting out in West Texas along Interstate 10, Fort Stockton is a friendly, unpretentious town of about 8,500 people. It originally started as a frontier outpost built around Comanche Springs, serving travelers making the long trek between San Antonio and El Paso. Today, you can still stroll through the preserved historic fort and the quiet downtown square around the county courthouse. It has the feel of a classic desert crossroads, offering plenty of open space, starry night skies, and a calm, grounded atmosphere.
