About Foscoe
Foscoe is a Watauga County census-designated place on NC 105 southwest of Boone, between Seven Devils and Shulls Mill. The 2020 census counted 1,457 people. The highway is the practical spine, with shops and outdoor businesses serving the broader High Country and a connection toward Grandfather Mountain. Boone, Banner Elk, and Blowing Rock sit in the surrounding trip pattern, so Foscoe's small footprint is tied to a much wider regional visitor economy. Foscoe's current community life has a specific center at the seven-acre park, which includes access to the Watauga River, a 2,000-plus-square-foot community center, and a band shelter.
The park and center also give residents a regular gathering spot for meetings away from the highway. The area has more than 100 businesses and nonprofits, with restaurants, fishing outfitters, stables, a trout farm, a vineyard, and hiking routes along the High Country. It is a roadside community with a regional outdoor economy and a volunteer-supported gathering place at its core.
