About Franklin Springs
Franklin Springs is a Franklin County city that started as a mineral-springs resort before becoming a college town. Emmanuel University’s campus began with 87 acres bought in 1918, including old hotels, pavilions, cottages, and the springs that drew visitors. The school opened in 1919 as Franklin Springs Institute, became Emmanuel College in 1939, and took the university name in 2023. U.S. 29 runs through the center, with Royston two miles east. Franklin Springs is northeast Georgia with spring water under the campus story.
